City-Data.com provides interesting data curated from multiple reputable sources. Data that can be researched on this site includes employment, housing, crime, health, demographic, and a variety of other data of local interest.
Bureau of Labor Statistics: Occupational Outlook Handbook
The Occupational Outlook Handbook is a reliable source of objective information about a wide variety of occupations. It provides detailed information about specific jobs including a job summary, work environment, education and/or training required, median income (with high and low income projections, as well), projected growth rate of employment in that field, and state & area data for specific occupations. This is an excellent resource to use for this project.
State & Local Government on the Net

Link to thousands of state agencies as well as city and county governments. These are official websites that provide valuable, information and data specific to your area of interest for this project.

StreetAdvisor
StreetAdvisor provides reviews of cities, neighborhoods, and streets by local area experts. It also links directly to Zillow, a real estate website, if you want to research home listings in that area.

Search for rental properties by location or point of interest.
Redfin

Redfin is a comprehensive real estate search tool. Search by city, zip code, address, agent, area, or listing agent. A search produces an interactive map of all listings in the defined area. An individual listing is accompanied by detailed information, pictures, and a street view option.

American Public Transportation Association: U.S. Local and State Transit Links

Find information about public transportation options. Select the state link and scroll to find the link associated with your area of research interest.

Google Maps

Search Google Maps for a specific location of interest (city, street, address, etc.). These maps offer a street view of the area searched. This is very helpful when you are interested in a particular house, for example, and you want to see what the street or neighborhood looks like.

Citation Help

Select the resource (book, website, etc.) and input the requested information in order to create an MLA citation. If using an online resource, there is an option to search by URL. Make sure to check the citation information that is produced to verify accuracy.
